Dmytro Konstantinov
With over 20 years of uninterrupted training experience, Dmytro Konstantinov is the Head Coach, General Manager and one of the two founding members of Team Nemesis. Throughout his life he has trained with some of the top fighters and martial arts practitioners in the UK and Europe, and has the pleasure of calling many of them his friends.
His training started in Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do. A unique style of Tae Kwon Do that combined spectacular kicking elements with ballet-like execution to musical accompaniment. This unusual combination developed superior control over the execution of techniques and led to much improved balance and coordination.
The initial attraction of the sport was Jhoon Rhee’s unmatched kicking ability and a number of high profile, celebrity students: Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali are to name but a few. However, after a number of years, the luck of competitive combat element has driven Dmytro to change styles and organisations, first moving to WTF and then later again to TAGB.
- Lecturer in Skills for Life with City of Bristol College.
- NVQ in Advanced Anatomy and Physiology.
- Years of practical experience in the Security Industry.
- Instructor in Russian All-round Fighting organisation.
- Black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Mawashi Jitsu.
Never satisfied with the “touch sparring” and a traditional self-defence approach of Tae Kwon Do, Dmytro was always on a look out for a style that would challenge his abilities. In the mid 90′s he has immersed himself into Mawashi Jitsu, a style built around ideas of effective reality based combat.
The period that followed was characterised by very involved and contact-heavy training. Lessons could only be described: as exceptional brutality in a genuinely friendly atmosphere. All training was conducted on hard wood floors with no mats in sight, often training outdoors. However, for all of it’s benefits, it was still a tradition orientated style with all of the attached attributes: etiquette, personal attire, belts, gradings…
In August 2004, Dmytro and his long term training partner, Tim Leach, decided to address what they saw as shortcomings of modern practical martial arts movement by founding Team Nemesis. Based on their martial arts knowledge and practical experience in the security industry their aim was to develop a complete and comprehensive self protection system that would cover all aspects of this vast subject.
It was agreed that the system would focus on the practical elements of modern self protection. This meant covering allot more then just combat techniques. An old wisdom says that “there is no smoke without a fire”, similarly there is no violence without a conflict. However, what are the main causes of conflict in modern society? What are the possible avenues for its resolution? What are the consequences of such actions?
To find answers to the above questions, the Team required not only unprecedented technical knowledge but also a keen understanding of human anatomic, physiology, psychology and modern laws. As a result, Dmytro has spent years in the pursuit of those goals. He has completed an NVQ in Advanced Human Anatomy in Physiology and trained in a variety of modern combat sports:

- Freestyle Wrestling

- Muay Thai
